Building Connections Through Language

Building Connections Through Language
A group of young students are seated at desks, engaged in what appears to be a classroom activity, with various educational materials and supplies visible in the background.

Students in Ms. Krueger's class recently participated in a collaborative questionnaire activity designed to strengthen social and language skills. Partnering with students from Ms. Vanadia’s and Ms. DeCourcey’s classrooms, students interviewed one another to practice using language authentically with peers while getting to know each other better. The activity was a meaningful way to generalize skills within a general education setting and was met with positive feedback from students, parents, and staff.

Building on this success, plans are already underway for a future activity that will incorporate wh-comprehension questions aligned with fourth-grade Social Studies standards.
