Adding Fun to the Equation at CRS

Adding Fun to the Equation at CRS

Third-graders at Concord Road School turned math into a full-blown carnival, filling both cafeterias with games, problem-solving, and plenty of energy.

Organized by teacher Christina Schilli, the event provided students with the opportunity to design and create their own math games based on the concepts they had learned throughout the year. Each student picked a math concept—like fractions, multiplication, or place value—and built a game to help classmates practice it.

Some games were simple, using paper and dice, while others had moving parts or extra pieces. With clear instructions and plenty of variety, students from all third-grade classes took turns playing each other’s games.

The carnival gave students a chance to apply their skills in a fun and collaborative way, and the range of ideas on display reflected how much they had learned!
